IT’S CALLED KIVA, AND ITS MISSION IS TO HELP ENTREPRENEURS IN POOR REGIONS ACROSS THE WORLD TO START, OR ADVANCE, THEIR OWN BUSINESSES BY GIVING THEM MICROLOANS. THE ENTREPRENEUR PAYS BACK THE LOAN AND WE ARE THEN ABLE TO LEND THAT MONEY TO SOMEONE ELSE. IT IS A WIN-WIN ALL AROUND!
BY LENDING BUSINESS FUNDS TO PEOPLE IN NEED, THEY ARE GIVEN A CHANCE TO START SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN, SOMETHING THAT MATTERS AND THAT WILL PROVIDE LIFE-LONG SUPPORT FOR THEM, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It’s actually very simple. You pick an entrepreneur, lend them money, and then they pay you back once their company takes off. When the money has been paid back, it can be reinvested towards a new entrepreneur. The best thing about Kiva loans being loans, and not donations, is that the money can be reinvested over and over again, meaning, you can help hundreds of people. You can also choose which category to invest in, for example, agriculture, women, education, ECO-friendly projects, etc.
