I can’t believe Christmas time is right around the corner. Either the years are getting shorter or my brain has changed its perception of time…
Anyway, Christmas is the whole reason I started Bag-all. I got really upset about all that garbage created on Christmas day. We are five in the family and celebrating with extended family we had black garbage bag after black garbage bag full of wrapping materials. It made me kind of sick to think of the fact that it was not only us, but everyone else on our block, in our neighbourhood, in our city, in the country, in all countries. If you picture this in your minds eye it is not a pretty sight.
So, I thought there must be a better more sustainable way of doing the gift giving.
This was our Christmas card last year. The girls with my very first Christmas collection!
Searching on-line I found some quite disturbing numbers about the waste created from gift wrapping.
* There is 5 million tons! of extra garbage created by gift wrapping around the holiday season in the US alone.
But we can all easily do something about it by reusing! There is some statistics about reusing as well:
* If families in the US just wrapped three gifts in reusable material there would be an equivalent of the surface of 45 000 football fields in paper that wouldn’t have to be produced or become garbage.
* If families reused just two feet (less than a meter) of string for their gift wrapping that would be 38 000 miles (approx 61 000 km). That’s enough to tie a bow around the Earth.
I also found some environmental groups talking about reusable fabric gift bags and I thought – now that is probably the best idea I have heard in my entire life. However, being a stylist, I didn’t care too much for the way those bags looked. So, I thought I might be able to contribute something to this idea. And – voila – Bag-all was born.
This was our Christmas tree last year (I know the kids went a little over board with the decorations haha).
This Christmas season we have a really great offer. If you buy five or more bags we will give you one Large Red or Black striped Christmas bag for free! Just e-mail us on email@example.com and let us know which colour you prefer.
Please reuse! Waste reduce!
A few weeks ago we welcomed famous Chinese actress, Bea Hayden and Modern Fashion Lifestyle Channel to the Bag-all store on Mott Street.
Bea was documenting one of her days in New York and ended up finding some favorite bags, which she aslo monogrammed with her name.
They filmed their visit and if you speak Chinese, you can watch the full video here.
Thank you for visiting Bea, you are welcome back any time!
Finally! Its time to start packing away your gloves and beanies and start unpacking your caps and t-shirts.
Protect your leather gloves from dust, scratches and excess moisture by storing them in our new Gloves organizing bag.
To all our Japanese followers, here is an interview with founder and owner Jennifer that was made by Ships Magazine during her trip to Japan. Ships sells a selected range of Bag-alls items in stores around the country.
