Inspirational truth- teller

I recently saw a documentary about Eleanor Roosevelt. This person might be one of the coolest women who ever lived. She was a lady way ahead of her times and was never afraid to speak her mind. This combo made her one of the “queens of quotes”. And as you know, if you have followed my blog for a while, I love a good quote!
Well-behaved women rarely make history is one of the Eleanor quotes I love. I have felt many, many times that people, men and women, perceive me as demanding/annoying/bossy when I want to get things done the way I want them. In a man this is viewed as a good trait as he then “knows what he wants” and “gets things done”. In a woman it’s another story. We have to fight to get things the way we want them and along the way we have to take a lot of heat for it.
When I was younger I felt that it was really hard to push my ideas through and I, typically didn’t want to be viewed as “unpleasant”. These days I know that if I don’t do it my way I will regret it later and if people don’t like it I don’t care as I am the one who will have to live with the consequences. Honestly the only times I regret something, is when I didn’t listen to my own intuition and went with what someone else told me.
Which brings me to the next quote:
So true! You need to be put through hard stuff to know your own strength. When those hard things happen to you, you might feel that it is all very unfair. But once you have come out on the other side, you are much stronger as you now know you can handle the tough

Word Eleanor!

Now – drumroll – another amazing quote:

What Eleanor is saying in this quote is that only if you agree with what a person is saying to you it can have any value.

Absolutely no one, but you, has control over your brain! You can only be insulted/hurt/put down by a person if you decide that what they have to say to you is true. More often than not what a person (you included) say to other people has everything to do with them and not the person they are saying it to. So when you realise this basically no one can insult you ever again!

The next quote might be my favourite quote of all times!

People are obsessed with talking about other people. How much greater aren’t conversations about ideas? They make us feel better and opens our minds. Gossiping about others really is only a reflection of ourselves (same as the quote above this one).

Exactly! Doing things outside your comfort zone also allows you to grow.

Eleanor lived through both World Wars and understood that there are no winners of any wars!

I never thought of this before (D)anger…

Eggzactly! And not only that – listen to good advice as well! It’s for free!

Like not voting for instance!

So true you smart woman! When I grow up I want to be exactly like you!!
