A lot of people are curious about my job as a stylist. I don’t do it anymore, however sometimes I just can’t say no, especially when I get to go to Los Angeles to shoot. It’s even more fun to work with someone you like. Anine Bing is incredibly sweet and incredibly talented! Anine, together with her husband Nicolai, have built up her own fashion line called Anine Bing. They have worked incredibly hard, like I have with all the packing and posting, in the beginning. It has gone so well for Anine that they are soon to open stores! Now that the article I styled for Mama in LA has been released, I can show a little more from behind the scenes.
We shot the cover story in Anines office, which is in the Garment District in Downtown LA.
The office is a beautiful loft.
When we shoot or kids, I usually line up all the clothing on a table to see what I like. I have noticed that it goes really well when the kids get to chose themselves! Bianca is also interested in fashion and is very particular about what she wants to wear. And when she likes something…she is very decisive, and won’t take it off.
Me, in my Isabel Marant jacket which I found at H&M’s Marant collection.
And then it was time for the photoshoot. I usually always start with the cover story before the kids have gotten too tired. And it’s nice to get the most important picture done with.
We try to work as fast as possible when kids are involved so they don’t start getting too weary. Often I stand behind the photographer, and hop and sing or just play around First we put a crown on Bianca, this is how it turned out.
Then with a bow.
Mama actually decided to merge two pictures together for the cover—Anine and Benjamin from one picture, then they cut out Bianca from another.
Unfortunately there is not room for all pictures in a magazine and I don’t get to decide on which ones do. Sometimes I think WHY did they choose that picture over that one? But it’s like that with pictures, everyone sees something different in them.
When we wrap up the shoot, the photographer and I go through the pictures to send to the magazine. This time it looked like this:
Here are some photographs that I loved, that weren’t printed in the magazine. How cute!?
Fashionista in the making!
A few weeks ago we welcomed famous Chinese actress, Bea Hayden and Modern Fashion Lifestyle Channel to the Bag-all store on Mott Street.
Bea was documenting one of her days in New York and ended up finding some favorite bags, which she aslo monogrammed with her name.
They filmed their visit and if you speak Chinese, you can watch the full video here.
Thank you for visiting Bea, you are welcome back any time!
Finally! Its time to start packing away your gloves and beanies and start unpacking your caps and t-shirts.
